WHAT YOU’LL DO
This is where it all begins. We develop the new concepts that go on to become new Jaguars and Land Rovers. So, the emphasis is on building strong strategic, technical and financial foundations right from the start.
An opportunity to join the Aerodynamics Chapter at this exciting time as we embrace electrification and realise our ambitious efficiency goals. Drag is one of the key factors influencing a vehicle’s efficiency, therefore, is critical for delivering the EV range and fuel consumption our customers desire. We also work closely with Vehicle Dynamics to refine high speed handling characteristics.
Working hand in hand with the Designers, we refine the shape of our cars using a combination of CFD and the wind tunnel. We then collaborate with engineering teams to turn the vision into reality.
We are looking for someone with a passion for aerodynamics, that is keen to grow and apply their knowledge to improve the performance of our vehicles. Experience in the automotive sector is desirable but related fields such as motorsport or aerospace will be considered.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Support / lead wind tunnel tests (travel to Germany required).
- Run CFD simulations (not essential).
- Develop novelle/creative ideas to improve aerodynamic performance
- Analyse test data, surmising results in technical reports.
- Conduct benchmarking tests
- Present findings to the team and where appropriate Design/Engineering.
- Plan development and test activity.
- Support the creation of aerodynamic test properties.
- Support the resolution of technical issues.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
- Applicants should be educated to Degree level (ideally with a focus on Aerodynamics) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant industrial experience.
- Applicants should be self-starting and motivated to deliver class leading aerodynamic performance
- Strong technical background, with either proven experience of vehicle (ideally passenger car) aerodynamic development or enthusiasm to learn this application.
- Experience of wind tunnel testing and/or conducting/interpreting CFD analyses (Star CCM desirable).
- Highly numerate with ability to handle large, complex datasets.
Desirable
- Experience of passenger car Aero-Acoustics
- Experience of Water & Dirt Management
- Experience of thermodynamics or related discipline
- Project management experience
- Data analysis experience (Tableaux, MatLab, Python etc)
- CAD creation / analysis (Catia)
