EY seeks a Power & Utilities professional with experience in Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) to join their growing and dynamic Digital Grid Centre of Excellence based in EMEIA. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, tightly-knit team of experts leading the energy transition, and be on the forefront digitizing the network utilities operations to facilitate the better working world.


As an AMI business we have continued to grow over the last 6 years and need someone who can help support this continued growth and work directly with our EMIEA and global clients to deliver value. Drawing on your skills and experience, you will create innovative technology and business insights for clients, adapt EY methods and practices to fit the client team and cultural needs, support in delivering EY services in this space and contribute to industry leading thought leadership.


This role will allow the individual to develop their skills and knowledge in a number of areas both technical (e.g., metering systems and infrastructure) as well as softer skills focusing on client engagement and stakeholder management.


The requirement to be available to travel is a central part of this role, travel will be dependent on both business development and client delivery.


Key Responsibilities


This role is primarily focused on delivery and business development support across EMEIA and a select number of global accounts.


The role focuses on 3 core elements;

  • Client Delivery – the central part of this role will be supporting the delivery of specialist AMI consulting services to key accounts. This will range from shorter more tactical engagements to ongoing long-term support for specific client projects.
  • Sales/Business Development – as part of this role you will be expected to support regional teams with responding to client tenders, as well as supporting ongoing account activities related to business development e.g., client workshops.
  • Solution Development – as part of this role you will also be expected to support the development and/or refinement of our market offerings, as well as targeted thought leadership on AMI and Digital Grid.


Specific Knowledge and Skills Requirements:


Candidates will be expected to demonstrate;

  • Circa 5+ years of experience working within Advanced Metering Infrastructure projects/operations. This experience can cover gas, water and electricity utility services.
  • A good working knowledge of core utility and AMI processes including;
    • Deployment & Planning
    • Field Operations e.g. meter installation
    • Customer Operations
    • Supply Chain and Logistics
    • Asset Management
    • Network Operations
  • Specialist AMI experience should cover working with a broad range of AMI systems and technologies including but not limited to;
    • Meter Data Management (MDM)
    • Head End (HES)
    • Communications, specifically communications technology types and networks including;
      • Cellular
      • Radio Frequency
      • PLC
    • Metering Technology
    • Customer/Back Office
    • Field Operations e.g., workforce management
  • Deep specialization in any of the areas above is a benefit, though candidates will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of all components.
  • An understanding of how AMI data and functionality can be used to support future/other digital grid initiatives e.g. flexibility services


General Skills & Experience


  • Experience providing advisory services and possession of core consulting skillsets
  • Familiarity with applicable project management and execution methodologies
  • Proficiency in English language, with the ability to communicate both written and verbally at professional level (additional language skills would be appreciated)
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work under tight timelines for multiple project deliveries
  • Ability to self-motivate and proactively take on responsibilities for driving market engagement and project delivery.
