Job description
Salary: £21,575 to £21,968 per annum. Pro-rata £19,417 to £19,771.
Working Pattern: 33.3 hours per week.
Contract Length: Fixed term / Secondment until 01/05/2025.
Location: Horsham with hybrid working options dependant on work requirements.
The Trading Standards Service is responsible for delivering a wide and varied regulatory compliance enforcement role to help ensure a safe, fair and honest trading environment across West Sussex. You will be part of the Operational Support Team providing effective and flexible administration in support of the work of the Service.
Reporting to a Team Manager you will provide a customer focused service, prioritising your daily tasks in accordance with Team requirements and Service objectives.
You will be responsible for delivering a range of tasks to a high standard of quality within agreed timescales. These are likely to include tasks such as:
- Direct administration support to operational teams for issues such as maintaining quality assurance type systems and records of metrology and other operational equipment
- Administration of the controlled evidence and equipment stores in Horsham.
- Explosive registration and petroleum storage license administration.
- Administration of pool car. Including booking maintenance, submission of weekly returns and keeping clean.
- Updating and creating records on the Trading Standards database.
- Administering generic email inbox.
- Organisation of formal samples to be handed over to a Public Analyst courier.
- Scanning post and sending electronically to officers. Sending out post on behalf of officers working remotely.
- Data entry and updating spreadsheets.
Experience and Skills
Qualifications
- 4 GCSEs with A-C / 4-9 passes including Maths and English, or equivalent qualification or experience demonstrating that level of numeracy and literacy
Experience
- Relevant technical knowledge of procedures and practices associated with delivering an administrative service.
- Driving licence preferred
