Your new role
National Highways is excited to be looking for an Administration Team Leader to join our Major Projects Directorate as part of the Regional Investment Programme (RIP). This role will be based in our Birmingham Colmore Office but will be a hybrid mixture of home, office and potential site working.
The main focus of this role is to oversee and contribute to the development and delivery of directorate business support and governance activities, ensuring the timely provision of quality value added information and data.
You will also provide day to day leadership and management of staff within the team, setting high performance expectations whilst supporting their personal and professional development through leading by example and acting as a role model for National Highways values and behaviours.
What you’ll be leading on
- Manage the application of consistent working practices and procedures, ensuring deployment of resources according to business priorities and to provide a high quality, accurate and timely service.
- Encourage creativity and innovation in the team to embed a culture of continuous improvement, seeking to add value to the team’s activities and outputs so that customers’ expectations are not just met but exceeded.
- Lead, motivate and develop the team in providing proactive and flexible support and build capability to meet developing business needs and improve resilience.
- Maintain effective and collaborative working relationships both within the Directorate and across the organisation and ensure that short-term projects deliver best value and maximise benefits to customers.
- Produce reports, presentations and other documents, collating and analysing relevant information and statistics from identified sources to support others in the delivery of their business objectives and to support effective management decision making.
- Support senior colleagues to identify opportunities, options and solutions for taking forward business improvements that help to meet current and future needs of the business.
To be successful you will need
- Management of a multi-functional team interacting with senior management and multiple business areas.
- Experience of managing staff.
- Evidence of managing stakeholder relationships, engaging internal and external clients and working with other members of the business to support the delivery of projects and activities within the organisation.
- Ability to prioritise effectively to manage multiple deadlines.
- Good communication skills, using appropriate styles, methods and timing to maximise understanding and impact.
