If you are, then Day Care Services may be for you. Based in the brand-new Oak Cancer Centre, the Olayan Day Care Unit is looking for an administration assistant/scheduler. The unit is a busy day care facility, providing care and support to patients with a wide variety of cancers. The unit will offer a pleasant environment to ensure comfort and a relaxed setting throughout the patient’s pathway. We are committed to providing the highest quality care and maintaining consistently high standards in a professional and friendly atmosphere.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who enjoys the challenges and advantages of working in a friendly team in a day care setting. The role is busy, and you need to be able to work under pressure with the help of other members of the team. We encourage applicants to have some experience in Chemotherapy Scheduling.

The administrator is an integral member of the Day Care Unit team, under the supervision of the Sister of the Sister the Matron for Day Care Unit. The post holder will coordinate all administrative
aspects of the Day Care Unit including reception duties, scheduling chemotherapy appointments, preparation of chemotherapy workflows, data collection, and clerical duties.

The post holder will work within the new Sutton based Oak Cancer Centre (OCC) in the Day Care unit. The Day Care unit will cover medical day care provision for both solid tumours and haematology, which have come together to form one combined service.

There will be a requirement to work shift patterns between the operating hours of 08:00 – 20:00 Monday to Friday.

Prior to May 2023, Medical Day Unit (MDU) has covered medical day care for solid tumours and Bud Flanagan Ambulatory Care (BFAC) has covered medical day care for haematology.
  • These responsibilities will be carried out under the guidance of the shift coordinator.
  • Appointments, scheduling and capacity management
  • To deal with all new patient chemotherapy referrals from clinicians, ensuring that the first chemotherapy treatment is scheduled within Cancer Waiting Times targets.
  • To liaise directly with the patient regarding their treatment, providing information and reassurance and managing patient expectations around the Day care unit experience.
