The UCL Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology The Institute was established on 1 August 2013 and is formally comprised of two Research Departments: The MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (MRC CTU) and the Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (CCTU). It currently directly employs 265 staff and generates an annual income in excess of £30 million. The Institute also has two further units that are virtual members: The Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre and the PRIMENT Clinical Trials Unit. Over time and building on the strengths of its Research Departments the mission of the Institute is to become a centre of excellence for the conduct of all phases of clinical trials, meta-analysis and epidemiological studies. Key areas of focus for the Institute will include delivering innovations in trial methodology, training and developing the next generation of trialists. Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit (CCTU) The Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit is a specialist unit set up within the Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology with a specific remit to design, conduct, analyse and publish clinical trials and other well-designed studies led by UCL Chief Investigators. The CCTU provides clinical, statistical and trial operations and facilitates the delivery of high quality, regulatory compliant clinical trials of investigational medicinal products (IMPs) and non-IMP trials. The CCTU is a registered CTU with the capability to centrally coordinate multi-centre clinical trials (i.e. having overall responsibility for the design, development, recruitment, data management and analysis of trials) with robust systems to ensure conduct and delivery of clinical trials to the highest quality standard.
About the role
This is a fantastic job share opportunity to join the Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit at UCL as part-time Administrative Assistant. The post holder will work closely with Unit Coordinator and second Administrative Assistant to provide comprehensive administrative support across various functions within the Unit. The main duties of the post will include but are not limited to: • Provide the core administrative and clerical support to the CCTU and fulfil a PA role to senior staff, • Coordinate, attend and minute various Unit meetings. • Provide generic finance support and assisting with payments. • Support the end-to-end recruitment process for specific roles ensuring line managers are informed and comply with UCL policy, including the preparation of adverts, use of UCL’s e-recruitment system to post advertisements, update applicants’ statuses, administer shortlisting and arranging interviews, issue job offer letters, support line managers with induction process. • Full list of job responsibilities is included within attached Job Description This is part time permanent position equivalent to 18.25 hours a week. The salary will be pro rata according to the hours worked: £14,172-£15,798 per annum We offer the opportunity to work flexibly between our office and home, along with core hours and flexible start/finish times.
About you
You will have excellent communication, administration, and organisation skills that can be used to provide exceptional customer service. Additionally, you will take a professional approach to work with the ability to multi-task as well as prioritise under pressure to meet deadlines. Experience of working in Higher Education in an administration with a solid systems knowledge role is desirable.
