Bodleian Special Collections is looking for an administrator to join the team.
This post is critical to the smooth running of a busy, varied, and high-profile part of the Bodleian libraries which aims to develop, care for, and make available a world class collection of rare and unique materials, built up over four centuries. It will offer the postholder an opportunity to work alongside curators, conservators and other staff concerned with research into and the promotion of our special collections. The post would particularly appeal to someone with a deep interest in heritage and helping to advance the libraries’ mission to advance scholarship and contribute to the wider cultural landscape.
The postholder will take responsibility for financial planning, budget monitoring and the smooth processing of payments, administering, tracking and filing important documents. You will also help to organise and schedule meetings, visits, and other activities, often involving high-profile viewing of collections, in which you may also have the opportunity to participate. You will work directly to the Keeper of Special Collections and assist him with diary management and travel, etc. You will liaise with colleagues across the libraries and wider university, as well as with numerous individuals beyond Oxford.
The ideal candidate will have a high level of numerical and financial competence with excellent organisational skills. You will be highly competent in the use of planning tools, including Excel and Microsoft Office. You will be highly enthusiastic and dedicated to the mission of the Bodleian Libraries. You will be able to interact professionally and effectively with a wide range of people within and beyond the library.
This is a permanent, full-time post, working 36.5 hours per week.
