Overview

Nova Scotia Woodlot Owners & Operators Association (NSWOOA) is a leading advocate for good stewardship of the native forests of Nova Scotia. We are looking to hire a bookkeeper/office assistant in Truro, NS.

The position will primarily support the Family Forest Network, a collaboration among 10 charitable, non-profit, and co-operative organizations that research and promote ecologically sensitive forest practices on small, privately owned woodlands in Nova Scotia.

Responsibilities

This is a part-time, contract position. Primary responsibilities include:

· Posting invoices and payments, entering deposits and withdrawals, reconciling accounts

· Ensuring payroll, benefit costs, EI, WC, and other disbursements are timely and accurate

· Working with staff to prepare reimbursement requests to funders

· Preparing monthly and annual financial reports for staff and directors; working with independent accountant to prepare annual financial filings

· Answering inquiries about the project from the public, landowners and others; referring the calls to the appropriate staffer as needed

· Providing membership support, including general questions, applications and renewals, and maintenance of membership database

· Performing related tasks as needed

Requirements

Strong organizational skills

Ability to maintain accurate, well-organized financial records

Bookkeeping: 2 years of experience (required); QuickBooks: 1 year (required)

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

Flexibility, effective time management skills, and ability to work independently
