The Catering Department at Walsall Manor Hospital are looking for a dedicated Clerical Officer with an in-depth knowledge of operating in a office/catering environment to join a small team. In your role you will be expected to promote Trust values, support your team and be a role model for team members. Ensuring that we provide our patients with nutritious meals and beverages.
Clerical Officer
We are currently recruiting for a Band 2 Clerical Officer to joining our friendly team at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust. The role is based in the Catering Department at Walsall Manor Hospital.
The hours are working Monday Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday at 4 hours per day.
The post will require knowledge of working in a busy and demanding office environment . The role will also involve covering for colleagues as required..
You must be flexible, reliable, organized, hardworking, have good communication skills and be prepared to help cover colleagues in their absence.
This role is Monday to Friday but may require occasional weekend working as required by the needs of the service.
Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 286,700, providing inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and the continued upgrading of existing areas ensures the Trust now has a state-of-the-art Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit facilities. Work is also well underway on its multi-million pound new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre which will house a new Emergency Department (including Children’s Emergency Department), co-located Paediatric Assessment Unit, Acute Medical Unit and Urgent Care Centre. This is scheduled for completion this year.

Main Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Catering Manager, to perform clerical duties in the main the Catering Department.
To provide comprehensive administrative support to the Catering Service, as guided by the Facilities Officer.
1. Undertake general office duties as required, including:
- Word processing, including copy typing and letters
- Use of predefined Excel Spreadsheets and Databases for recording various information
- Photocopying / Scanning
- Maintains the departments filing systems, ensuring all files are up to date and available when required.
- Identifying office stationery requirements.
- Taking requests/messages from wards
- Taking requests/messages from colleagues
- Taking messages and calling external suppliers
- To book meetings with colleagues as requested.
- To distribute documents in advance of catering meetings.
- To make informal notes of catering meetings.
- • Printing Trust Communications.
- Printing and distributing documents for the catering service.
2. To monitor stock levels of key products as requested by the Facilities Officer
3. Use the Trust ordering system to raise and receipt orders as requested by the Facilities Coordinator
4. Providing information to Facilities Officer as requested.
5. To treat all information as confidential and follow all Trust and Department Information Governance policies and procedures.
6. To organise own day to day work tasks, showing an ability to prioritise in order to achieve set timescales.
7. To undertake work that has been prioritised by the Facilities Officer.
8. Ensure that all statutory and mandatory training is undertaken and up to date.
