This is a brilliant opportunity to join a world class university, known for their research and reputation globally. They are looking for a Systems and Data Administrator to join their IT team to be responsible for the day-to-day management of their enterprise IT infrastructure and management of data sets within external research computing environments.
Main responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day running and maintenance of enterprise IT (server/storage) platforms both on-premise and in the cloud
- Contribute to the design, selection, provisioning, installation and configuring of systems, software and infrastructure
- Respond to service requests and provide expert knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues within a Linux environment
- Communicate with stakeholders
- Take responsibility for the management of datasets in hot, warm and cold storage locations, documenting their location, purpose, owner and any governance requirements
Requirements
- Proven experience in VMware and Linux systems administration
- Experience writing and maintaining tools in Bash, Python or equivalent
- Good understanding of TCP/IP networks and firewalls
- Understanding of issues relating to system security, reliability and availability
- Excellent communication skills, including the presentation of complex technical ideas and the production of accurate written documentation
