- Record and prepare minutes of court sessions, meetings or conferences
- Arrange travel, related itineraries and make reservations
- Open and distribute regular and electronic incoming mail and other material and co-ordinate the flow of information
- Prepare and key in correspondence and legal documents
- Review and proofread documents and correspondence to ensure compliance with legal procedures and grammatical usage
- Administrative and office activities
- Witness and certify the validity of signatures on documents
- Schedule court trials
- Research records, court files and other legal documents
- Refer clients to agencies that provide financial assistance, legal aid, housing, medical treatment and other services
- Prepare proposals
- Perform administrative tasks
- Obtain information and prepare reports or case histories
- Maintain accurate records
- Interview clients to assess their situation and determine the types of services required and eligibility
- Invoice clients
- Examine adjusters' reports, insurance claims and precedents to determine extent of insurance coverage
- Consult lawyers, doctors or other individuals to discuss insurance claims
- Complete legal documentation
- Calculate billing charges
- Arrange pre-trial conferences and hearings
- Arrange for billing for services
- Clerical duties (i.e. faxing, filing, photocopying)
- Prepare invoices, reports, memos, letters, financial statements and administer contracts and other documents
- Assist lawyers by interviewing clients, witnesses and other related parties, assembling documentary evidence, preparing trial briefs, and arranging for trials
- Assist lawyers in preparation for mediation and judicial dispute resolutions
- Draft legal correspondence and perform general office and clerical duties
- Research legal precedents and gather evidence
- Interview clients, prepare case histories and assess problems
