Department of Nutrition and Integrative Physiology
Responsibilities
Oversees the administrative and fiscal process of the Department of Nutrition & Integrative Physiology. Manage day to day workflow, assign staff responsibilities, and make recommendations regarding Department policies and procedures. Provide administrative support and guidance to faculty, staff, and students.
Oversee and monitor budget activities for E&G, C&G, AUX, and Foundation accounts for the Department. Analyze, reconcile, and provide financial reports. Make recommendations on budgetary planning. Approve expenditures for the Unit. Handle all responsibilities related to the Budget Manager role, and act as the liaison between the Department and Budget Office. Assist with annual PCI compliance and cash collection requirements. Enters and reconciles all departmental tuition waivers; works with Dean’s Office budget representative on keeping waiver allocation in line with college-wide allocation. Develop budget recommendations, and reports, and prepares budget requests.
Serve as the Department Representative and point of contact for all Human Resources functions for the department. Responsible for faculty and OPS appointments, dual compensation, RDFs, payroll certification and troubleshooting, and verification of active employees. Responsible for entering department faculty Assignment of Responsibilities (AOR) and FACET (effort reporting). Oversee Promotion & Tenure process for Department faculty. Analyze departmental policies and procedures for internal policy development regarding HR administration. Maintain all faculty files and records for the department and manages proper record retention and disposal.
Oversee all Procurement and Travel functions for the department. Responsible for processing payment requests, internal requisitions, and purchase orders. Serve as a liaison between the department and Accounts Payable, Procurement, and Travel.
Supervise departmental staff positions, OPS, and Federal Work Study (FWS) employees, including recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and staff development. Manage workflow within the office. Propose and monitor office policies and procedures to ensure accurate reporting and accountability to university units.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and experience equal to eight years. (Note: post-high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)
- Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
- Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
- Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop change or alternatives.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in budgetary planning, including developing budget recommendations, reports, and preparing budget requests.
