Admin Assistant
AFFCAD UK is a small team of 10, we are a friendly and committed organisation supporting charitable activities in Uganda. We are 100% volunteer led so everyone has a day job!
Our vision is a world where young people can grow up free from extreme poverty. In order to achieve this, we seek to create long-term partnerships, engage young people in the UK and generate awareness and sustainable income to tackle the causes of poverty in Kampala’s slum communities. We work with AFFCAD Uganda to deliver needs-based programmes for the community in Bwaise.
About the role:
We are looking for a committed volunteer admin assistant who can support our volunteer administrator to provide administrative support to the Trustees and other volunteers.
What the role involves:
This is an unpaid volunteer role.
AFFCAD UK is a UK registered charity. This role will be carried out remotely and duties include but is not limited to the following.
- Coordinating meetings
- Drafting agendas
- Taking minutes at confidential meetings
- Adhoc administration for team of Trustees.
- Available for up to 6 hours per month in the evenings.
- Helping with recruitment activities
- Keeping the virtual office organised
Your experience:
- Previous administrative experience
- Experience in taking minutes of meetings (ESSENTIAL)
- Computer proficiency
- Good communication skills
- Organisational skills
- Ability to work on own initiative

Commitments/time:
2-3 hours/week - in a busy week. In a quiet week, this might be just 1 hour.
We also ask all volunteers to attend a 1x hour monthly team meeting (held virtually)
We also have a monthly lunchtime meeting for 1 hour with Uganda (optional)
A bit about us:
AFFCAD UK is a grassroots charity supporting projects focused on youth empowerment, education, health in Bwaise, Uganda. We work in partnership with AFFCAD Uganda to identify needs and deliver relevant programmes in the local community. We are run by a team of part-time volunteers with a full-time love for what we do.
We’re a great bunch of people to work alongside; everyone has great enthusiasm for our work and programmes and together we pull off ambitious projects like rebuilding Excel Primary School. You’ll be asked to contribute ideas from the get-go and will see how the work you’re doing feeds into our work in Uganda.
