Administrative Assistant

Salary: £22,500 per annum

Location: Newcastle

Contract/Hours: Permanent, Full Time – 35 hours a week 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday

Closing Date: Midnight on Sunday the 20th of August '23.

A bit about the role

You will be working as part of a team of Business Support Officers within the Children and Families Newcastle Service.

In this role of administrative Officer, you will work as part of a team with the 0-19 Service Lead for Public Health and Nurse Lead for 1001 Critical Days to help co-ordinate Solihull training across the city of Newcastle and support the 1001 critical days Think Tank meet their priorities for 0-2 year olds across the city . You will also work alongside other senior members of staff, including the Senior Business Support Officer, administrators, team leaders and support workers.

How you'll help to create brighter futures

This is an exciting opportunity for an Administrative Officer to be part of our team at Newcastle Family Support Service.

You will be the first point of contact for children, young people, families, and professionals who contact the service, so will need to be approachable, compassionate, and empathetic whether communicating over the phone, by email or in person.

  • Minute local meetings, producing letters, reports and other documents using Information Technology
  • Working collaboratively as part of a team and provide help and support to other team members.
  • Booking travel arrangements, accommodation, room bookings and appointments for members of the team.
  • Keeping up-to-date and accurate records of financial transactions including the payment of invoices, purchase orders, holiday records and petty cash.

Experience of working independently to plan and manage your own workload to meet organisational deadlines and shared goals, will be essential.

We will actively support you in your role and provide you with relevant training, development, and supervision. This role will be based at Birmingham Community Children's Centre.

  • Business Administration S/NVQ Level 2 desirable or work-related experience.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to deliver and manage basic written and oral communication effectively.
  • Organised and can prioritise your workload.
  • A high understanding of Microsoft package specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Good attention to detail, highly organised and adaptable to accommodate the needs of the service.
