Why Action for Children?
We are one of the UK's largest children's charities – you may have seen us featured in a well-known Christmas TV advert for 2022. One way we support young people is through fun-packed short breaks in small residential homes located in local communities. You could soon be a valued member of our team at Bradbury House in Shrewsbury.
At Action for Children we pride ourselves in being collaborative and inclusive. Are you passionate about changing the lives of children and young people to give them the best possible future?
A bit about the role

You'll be highly organised and able to focus on attention to detail and working to tight deadlines. You will be supporting the staff team in maintaining children's files and records, ensuring information is up to date and raising their attention to information that requires updating. You will also need to contact external agencies in requesting up to date information. You'll be responsible for your own tasks and take lead in some instances,.
This role could be a great fit if you are looking for work life balance or looking to return to the workplace. The contract runs initially for 10 months and is a great opportunity for you to grow your experience and build networks within a great charity.

- Act intuitively, professionally, confidently and implement a sensitive approach to your work.
- Undertake desktop research on behalf of colleagues and management to enable the completion of specific reports.
- Produce presentations, written and financial reports for management, including formatting of information and data.
- Communicate effectively and strive to deliver a high standard of customer service.
- Show a willingness to learn new processes and demonstrate good practice to others.
Let's talk about you
Whilst it would be great if you have a Business Administration S/NVQ, we are very open to experience rather than qualifications and welcome those will relevant work experience.
- A key part of your role will include using a variety of IT packages such as SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, including utilising bespoke IT systems to update and maintain records.
- Experience of working with and providing administrative support to senior management on an ongoing basis, often with conflicting priorities.
- To work within a team environment, demonstrating tact and diplomacy with other members of staff and where necessary to direct and guide.
- Have the ability to handle confidential and sensitive data.
