Job description
Incumbent serves as a key member of the finance team developing and reporting on budgets and financial activities of the department. Provides financial analysis and reporting on a wide variety of departmental activities that support patient care, research, and education.
In addition to finance activity, the incumbent manages, plans and administers the operations of the departments with limited scope while serving as a key member of the administrative teams for Radiology and OHNS at ZSFG.
Performs multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining critical attention to detail. As such, the incumbent must be diligent, accurate, efficient, able to think critically and have a strong work-ethic. S/he must be able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment, independently analyze issues, work with a high level of autonomy, and be exceedingly well-organized and flexible. The position reports to the Budget Manager with additional accountability to the ZSFG Site Director.
The incumbent performs short- and long-term planning for the organization to address unmet needs and identify future needs. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions for a range of operational issues.
This position is ideal for a finance professional looking to add administrative and operations experience into their career. This position is hybrid, with one day a week on site at ZSFG and four days remote. The hybrid agreement may be subject to change.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Minimum of 3 years of related work experience
- Two years of experience with budgeting and financial reporting/analysis
- Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices and systems.
- Has ability to independently gather required information, organize, and perform financial analysis assignments.
- Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner both in writing and verbally.
- Proven ability to use spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
- Proven Interpersonal skills with peers throughout the organization; service orientation; critical thinking; attention to detail; ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to function as a member of a team.
- Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for purchasing and personnel management including faculty and staff appointment types and classification.As wells as extensive knowledge of UC travel and meeting & entertainment policies and procedures
- Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint), Adobe Acrobat, and internet search tools. Comfortable with computers and other technology in general.
- Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, and advising
- Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event and meeting planning
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
- Ability to operate effectively in a changing organizational and technological environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.
- Solid knowledge of common UCSF applications such as Box and Smartsheet
- Two years of experience providing direct service to faculty in a financial capacity
- Knowledge of UCSF COA chartfield structure/concepts
- Skilled in use of UCSF financial systems (MyReports, Peoplesoft journals, BearBuy, MyExpense UC Path Funding Entry and Direct Retro)
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
