Job description
Location: Arboretum Primary School
Hours: 35 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time + 5 inset days)
Contract type: Permanent, to start September 2023
Do you have a passion to support additional needs children with varied ability levels? Are you looking for an exciting new role within a large, popular and thriving Inner City school? If so, and you can demonstrate that you are passionate about maximising our SEN children’s learning potential, then this role could be for you.
We are looking to appoint an experienced Additional Needs Teaching Assistant to work within our Orchard. This is a provision set up to cater for some of our children with SEN, which is split into two small groups based on age and level of need, providing a differentiated, small group approach for each child. The bespoke curriculum is tailored to meet the needs of the children and involves individual, small group and whole class teaching as appropriate.
You will be a qualified and experienced Additional/Special Needs Teaching Assistant who has recent experience within a primary school and a strong working knowledge of the primary and early years curriculums. You will ideally have experience of working with children with physical and educational difficulties. You will be able to demonstrate resilience and calm in stressful situations, focussing on solutions with patience, kindness and empathy. Your previous experience of supporting similar pupils will help your understanding and confidence in supporting a child and their family in overcoming barriers to their learning.
We are a large 643 place primary (which includes 32 children in our 2 year old unit and 78 in our 3 year old nursery), with a rich ethnic mix of delightful and well-behaved children. Our modern school has recently been refurbished and extensively extended and sits in large attractive grounds. We pride ourselves in our caring ethos and the value we place in our dedicated and friendly staff teams. We are a popular school, and have a waiting list for most year groups.
DDAT welcomes a diverse population of both children and staff and is committed to promoting and developing equality of opportunity in all its functions.
DDAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to satisfactory references, online checks, completion of a probationary period, pre-employment and Disclosure Barring Service checks. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
We warmly invite prospective candidates to visit the school to find out more about us and the role. To register your interest, please call the school office on (01332) 291140 or email [email protected] .
