Purpose of the Role
To support the Senior Actuary – Pricing lead in delivering results to the business. The region writes property, casualty and aviation business. Reporting to the pricing head for the region, you will work with the team to drive actuarial pricing support to improve business performance, growth and meeting operational goals. You will be part of the London & Rest of World Underwriting Council and assist the pricing head in providing consultation to senior managers and other groups on actuarial, underwriting, financial and strategic matters.- You will work closely with the following stakeholders:
- LM Re London & Rest of World pricing team: To help deliver support to stakeholders, working alongside an actuarial analyst, two experienced actuaries, one senior actuary and the pricing head
- London & Rest of World Underwriting Council: To support the pricing head and the actuarial function to be an effective element of this leadership team, assisting on all actuarial related matters, but also contributing to wider business matters
- Underwriting and Portfolio Management Teams: To provide analysis in order to help drive better underwriting decision making through account pricing, portfolio deep dives and product development
- LM Re Data & Analytics Team: As a key user of central MI, the team will be critical in ensuring the required data is captured, appropriate underwriting metrics are designed and used
About the Team
The actuarial team evaluate business performance and provide LM Re management with a clear, risk-based view for making decisions on business strategy and risk mitigation. The department covers all aspects of actuarial work including pricing, reserving, capital modelling and business planning. The team also collaborate with other functions in the actuarial support of data & analytics, capital management, exposure management and reinsurance purchasing & strategy.
The LM Re actuarial team consists of 25 members, across Singapore, Cologne, London, Stamford, and Boston. We form part of the wider, 60 person, LSM actuarial team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Individual account pricing, rate change and performance monitoring
- Support and development of pricing tools
- Supporting both local and global Group pricing standards and new product initiatives
- Support the actuarial selected loss ratios for business planning
- Support the transition of reserving out of the team
- Support the Capital Management parameterisation processes
- Work to understand the external and competitive landscape and help increase LM Re’s position and reputation in the market

Required Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications
- Part to nearly qualified actuary, ideally on their later exams
- Extensive years industry experience, P&C reinsurance specific experience would be an advantage
- Require educational numerate/scientific degree
- Requires knowledge of MS Excel (essential)
- Experience of working with other big data manipulation and visualisation software such as Power Pivot, SQL, Power BI or similar would also be an advantage (although not a strict pre-requisite) for the role

- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills, communicating with a range of internal and external clients of varying experience, expertise and appreciation of actuarial techniques.
- Good negotiation, analytical and decision-making skills required.
- Able to simplify, analyse and explain complex issues
- Able to build trust and effective network of contacts both internally and externally
- Able to manage time, manage projects, meet deadlines and prioritise
