We have a wonderful opportunity for an Activities Co-ordinator to join our amazing team at Blackheath in South East London, work under the supervision of the Lead Occupational Therapist providing activity based therapeutic interventions within both wards at Blackheath Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre.
Blackheath is a 36 bed centre providing specialist person-centred rehabilitation, care and support for adults with either a brain injury or other complex neurological condition. We provide comprehensive assessment, rehabilitation and therapy and specialise in the treatment of patients with a primary cognitive or behavioural impairment resulting from a brain injury or other neurological condition.
What you'll be doing:
A genuine interest in providing the best person centre care possible
Build relationships with patients, which are open and two way
Work with patients across the centre on both units to enable them to develop their domestic, self-care, social, work or leisure skills as appropriate for each individual under the guidance and supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist/Head of Therapy
Complete personal preference forms / leisure interest checklists together with patients and their families on admission
Follow up on relevant referrals as required together with the multi-disciplinary team
Plan and organise outings off site with appropriate transport, such as accessing local amenities e.g. shopping; social, cultural and religious activities; leisure activities e.g. bowling and going to the cinema; personal care activities e.g. hairdressing
Arrange and coordinate external service providers, such as entertainers / singers / etc. as relevant, in liaison with finance and nursing team
Assist with ensuring the upkeep of the areas of the unit in which leisure activities take place, such as the garden, in liaison with the Support Services Manager
What you'll have:
