Trainee Accountant, London
1. Main Purpose of the Role:
To assist on audit and accounting assignments whilst working toward qualification of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
2. Environment of the Job:
We’re a dynamic multi-disciplinary accountancy and business advisory practice operating from offices in London and Guildford – in the south-east of England. The Firm comprises 13 partners who have the breadth of experience and the acumen to enable the Firm to get quickly to the heart of client matters and build a thorough understanding of the issues. This job is based in London.
3. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in statutory audits for a variety of clients in a junior capacity initially, developing into a semi senior and senior role as the candidate progresses through their training contract.
- Assist with the accounts preparation of sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
- Assist with preparation of VAT returns
- Assist with basic tax compliance matters
- Work at client premises, gaining awareness of business activities and operations.
- Work with Partners and staff to provide a personal, professional service for the benefit of both clients and the Firm.
4. Other Duties and tasks
- Assist with producing accounts files for manager/partner reviews
- Assist with bookkeeping and management accounting assignments as required.
- Assist with completing draft corporation and income tax computations.
- Such other duties as may be reasonably expected of the post holder.

5. Decision Making/ Freedom to Act
Encouraged to work on own initiative and will be provided with guidance and training at all stages during the training contract towards the qualification as a member of ICAEW.
Qualifications and Experience
- A degree at 2.2 or above in any discipline; a minimum of 120 UCAS points
- English GCSE at grade 4/5 (C) or above (or equivalent)and Maths GCSE grade 6 (B) or above (or equivalent)
- IT literate - Microsoft Office. Ability to use computerised accounting software

- The ability to work flexibly, with willingness to travel to client sites and the Firm’s other office in Guildford.
