About the role:
The transactional finance team are the backbone of the finance department, recording the financial events taking place in Jisc. The team is made up of accounts payable, invoicing and credit control and located across several Jisc office sites.
The main purpose of this role is reconciling income received against sales invoices issued to customers, to confirm payment to suppliers for services sold by Jisc as agents on behalf of suppliers. This reconciliation is a vital step in a high volume and high value are of our business, and therefore presents an opportunity to deliver real impact for Jisc and our members. You will be working independently but will be working closely with accounts receivable (issuing sales invoices), credit control (chasing payment) and accounts payable (supplier payments).
This is a key role in the Transactional Finance Team. Accounts assistants can be deployed to operate in either sales or purchase ledger, according to their skills and the needs of the organisation, and under supervision of the senior accounts assistant team members. We value meeting based interactions and cross team working so there is the requirement to travel to one of our offices once a week.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assist in the recording of business purchases accurately and promptly upon receipt of documents from the supplier and internal approvals via email or goods receipt notes
- Assist with the weekly bank payments process
- Provide cover and support to other parts of the transactional finance team as required
- Assist with financial month and year end tasks, including liaising with external and internal audits
Key Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrable and proven experience in transactional finance managing high value and high volume data sets
- Expert level at Excel, including pivot tables and VLookup
- Strong communication skills including the ability to liaise with others and build relationships
- Demonstrate high attention to detail, achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing tasks
