The Team
The Finance department consists of 8 team members and the Finance Director. The team ranges in experience from those with an invaluable wealth of knowledge and experience in the team and Firm to Apprentices learning the ropes.
We're looking for a highly organised, detail-oriented individual who is passionate about accounting and finance. As the Accounts Assistant you will be play a key role in the team ensuring payments are processed accurately and in a timely fashion. This role will give you the opportunity to grow your skillset within an experienced and knowledgeable Finance team.
The role will be based in our Salisbury office.
The Role
You will assist with the processing of all payment requests, reconciling all office receipts and processing this all on our system.
Responsibilities
Day to day, your responsibilities will be as follows:
- Processing of:
- Client payment requests via transaction requisitions,
- International payment requests
- Ad-hoc accrued interest calculation requests
- Office and client cheque requests
- Daily bank credits
- Disbursement payments
- Anticipated disbursements including land registry, TM Property, Index, Companies House & searchflow fees
- Ad-hoc nominal payment requests outside of purchase ledger
- Reference daily bank statements
- Daily banking of office and client cheques received
- Assisting with dual authorisation of payments inputted into bank system
- Assist with filing of financial records
- Providing cover processing of all COP payment requests and updating the corresponding manual ledger cards. Reconciling the summary tabs each morning to the balances held with Natwest & Wilsons
- Assist with processing of purchase ledger invoices and staff expense claims
- Setting up and monitoring of standing orders and direct debits on the office account
- Manage Fee Earner phone and email queries courteously, professionally and in a timely manner
- Assist with a range of office, administrative and ad-hoc finance related tasks as required
Experience and Skills Required
- Experience of working in a similar accounts role
- GCSE English and Maths grade C/4 or above
- Good IT skills; ability to use Microsoft packages including word, excel and outlook
- High level of attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills - in person, by telephone and in email
- Good time management and organisational skills
- A friendly professional manner
- Team player with a proactive attitude
- Driven and self-motivated
- Experience with computerised accounting packages inc cloud-based software
