As an Accounts Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in their finance department, working closely with the Management Accountant. Your primary responsibility will be to provide essential support in basic bookkeeping, managing the invoicing process, and assisting with the purchase ledger. This remote role allows you to work from the comfort of your home, as they have been at the forefront of remote work since 2013.
Responsibilities: As an Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for various tasks to support the organisation’s financial operations. Typical responsibilities include:
- Assisting in basic bookkeeping tasks, such as data entry, maintaining financial records, and reconciling accounts to ensure accurate and up-to-date financial information.
- Managing the end-to-end invoicing process, ensuring timely and accurate issuance of invoices to clients, and assisting with credit control activities.
- Supporting the purchase ledger function by processing supplier invoices, reconciling statements, and promptly addressing discrepancies.
- Collaborating with the Management Accountant in month-end and year-end financial closing activities.
- Maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls, ensuring accurate and organised financial documentation.
- Supporting ad hoc financial analysis projects to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
Requirements: To excel in this role, they are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications:
- AAT qualification or equivalent, demonstrating a solid finance and accounting principles foundation.
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within a finance or accounting function.
- Proficiency in basic bookkeeping practices and financial recordkeeping.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with colleagues and clients.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently within a remote work environment.
