The Opportunity


We are excited to be recruiting for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our growing finance team in Thirsk, North Yorkshire.


The Company

IPN is an innovative, well-established, and award-winning pet food manufacturer, now employing over 400 people across our 3 UK sites. Our family of brands include Harringtons, Wagg, Barking Heads & Meowing Heads, AATU and a selection of partner brands that trust us to produce food on their behalf. Our kitchens in Thirsk and Kinmel produce dry, wet, and baked foods which are enjoyed by dogs and cats all over the world.


The Role

To accurately record and process sales and purchase ledger transactions on a timely basis. To take responsibility for ledger accuracy, that customer transactional information is up to date, cash is collected on time and outstanding customer balances are minimised and cleared on a timely basis.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Maintenance of the accounts receivable ledger
  • Management of and timely processing of customer receipts, credit note matching, customer deductions and sundry invoices
  • Manage customer payment and deduction queries. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders where necessary
  • Processing new customer details and accurate customer details changes on a timely basis, with appropriate verification
  • Maintenance of the accounts payable ledger
  • Processing of supplier invoices
  • Manage supplier queries via the accounts payable inbox and other means of supplier communication
  • Keeping up to date with latest fraud information and ensuring that accounts receivable ledger controls are appropriate in light of the latest information
  • Manage the daily and weekly cash collection cycle.
  • Take part in system testing and process changes where applicable
  • Produce weekly KPI’s
  • Assistance with other ad hoc tasks and necessary such as purchase ledger support.


Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a same or similar role
  • Ability to communicate well both written and verbally
  • Planning and organising skills
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and processes with accuracy
  • Positive approach to work and problem solving
  • Competent in using Excel and other systems within a finance environment


The Offer:

  • Location: Thirsk, North Yorkshire
  • Salary: £25,000
  • Hours: 40 hours - Monday to Friday
  • Bonus: 10%
  • Pension: Employee contributions 3% / Employer contribution 8%
  • Holidays: 25 days + Bank Holidays
