Accounts Assistant

Location: Hattersley

Responsible to: Management Accountant

Department: Finance

Salary: £22,000 - £27,000

This role, working within the Financial Reporting function is responsible for assisting in all financial accounting and compliance related matters. This is for all units within the business as well as group companies.

Key responsibilities of the Accounts Assistant:

  • Review of intercompany accounts and assist in the overall Financial Reporting Consolidation process
  • General maintenance of the trial balances including fixed assets, accruals, prepayments and cost transfers for the business
  • Interact with other group entities to agree intercompany amendments and process improvements
  • Support in administration of all bank accounts
  • Providing general ledger support for the AP, Expense and AR functions.
  • Support Business Finance with invoicing and ad hoc support as required.
  • Assist in verifying and approving supplier accounts and audit of any changes.
  • Assist in processing sales contract applications, ensuring IFS is updated for all cash payments and ensuring any discrepancies are identified and resolved.
  • Assist the Treasury Accountant with bank and payment administration as required.
  • Complete allocated balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis, identifying and resolving differences if any arise.
  • Involvement with the IFS system development team in the ensuring ongoing development of Finance systems.
  • Support year-end audit process and liaise with external auditors as required.

The Candidate: Account Assistant

  • Looking to studying towards professional qualifications (AAT/CIMA/ACCA).
  • Proactive, highly motivated & enthusiastic
  • Organised approach to work with good time management skills with great attention to detail
  • Effective project management, analytical, organizational and problem solving skills and abilities
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Solid communication skills
