We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our central finance team based in Normanton, Wakefield.

Principle Responsibilities Include:

  • Carry out all accounting tasks as required.
  • Customer liaison & debt collection.
  • Recording of direct receipts in the Auction Management System (AMS).
  • Maintain vendor payable function.
  • Maintain invoicing.
  • Provide data and MI as required.
  • Carry out all administrative tasks as required

Duties include:

  • Ensure that auction sales are accurately recorded.
  • Complete daily bank reconciliations in the Auction Management System (AMS) and ensure cash book entries are correct.
  • Ensure AMS is up to date for debtors paying in funds.
  • Make and record internal transfers as required.
  • Respond promptly to all queries from peers.
  • Correct any discrepancies to ensure that accounting records are always up to date and accurate.
  • Raise any anomalies with line manager immediately.
  • Undertake inbound and outbound telephone activity to Aston Barclay buyers to ensure payments are received.
  • Enforce adherence to company payment terms.
  • Be the finance representative for key buyers.
  • Review, maintain, accurately update and amend account records on the auction management system and Salesforce (with assistance from buyer services).
  • Develop chasing patterns for buyers over the phone (i.e. call prior to due date, follow up on payment date etc) and maintain logs of buyer discussions to ensure the best customer service possible.
  • Fully comply with company processes and procedures. Including placing accounts on hold with assistance from buyer services.
  • Coordinate regular statements to be sent out to buyers as required.
  • Responsible for recording of receipts paid directly into all bank accounts on AMS.
  • Liaise with auction team to reconcile debit card takings made at site counters.
  • Produce and accurately record all vendor payments.
  • Prepare pay when paid vendor payment runs for non-pay regardless vendors.
  • Prepare & send BACS payments, obtaining appropriate approval.
  • Issuing refunds for rescinded sales, following Company guidelines & approval process.
  • Raise sundry invoices.
  • Support the Central Finance team with data and MI to ensure they can complete all their month end duties in a timely manner.

Skills/Experience:

  • Numerate and financially literate.
  • Proven ability in debt collection.
  • Experience working within accounts administration.
  • Ability to work in a complex, fast paced operations function.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience of producing high quality information to deadlines.
  • Proven experience of delivering exceptional service to customers both personally and through a team.
  • Organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Intermediate computer & Microsoft Office knowledge.

Monday to Friday, 08.30am - 5.00pm.
