Hi! Hammock is a quickly growing fin-tech startup looking to add experienced bookkeeping leads and controllers to our fully remote, US based team. Our offering enables small and mid-sized companies to optimize and potentially fully replace their finance functions.
Team members in this role are essential to managing our clients and staff - as well as building our processes by highlighting new areas of development and efficiency to our product team. We’re looking for critical thinkers with deep accounting experience to be an integral hands-on part of our operations as we continue to scale and innovate.
Our clients operate in nearly every sector and range from startups and venture backed companies to long standing, mature businesses. Hammock’s staff assist with the full spectrum of accounting activities including managing transactions and AP, closing books, invoicing, and engaging with clients. Our ideal candidate is a strong communicator (both oral and written), a proactive thinking, has demonstrated leadership, and is committed to creating an orderly and comfortable experience for our clients.
Given our internally developed set of technology, tools, and processes, we ask all new staff for an initial minimum availability of 25 hours/week during our training period - with the expectation to be full time shortly thereafter.

Activities include:
- Accepting and categorizing bank feeds in QBO
- AP, AR management, and invoice issuance
- Bank reconciliations and month end closes
- Produce regular financial reporting and analytics
- Creating journal entries: Sales, Payroll, etc
- Perform sales tax, 1099, and other regulatory filings
- Deferred Revenue, Fixed asset, and other balance sheet schedules
Skillset:
- Proactive thinker, High attention to detail
- Quick learner, Open to new systems, technology, and processes
- Organized, Structured, Punctual
- Extremely comfortable using cloud based software - google suite, in particular, with advanced knowledge of formulas and functions
- Problem-solver with the ability to work both independently and on a team
Qualifications
- 3 years minimum intensive bookkeeping experience with small to mid-sized companies
- Current experience with Quickbooks Online
- Bachelors degree in accounting or business, or equivalent business experience
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and GAAP

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
