Purpose of job
This is an exciting time to be joining the team as activity on our key schemes is building in momentum and you will be working on a number of high-profile assets. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to start their Finance career in the real estate development sector.
We have a lot to achieve as a team and we’re excited about all of the opportunity that brings. To help us do that, we are looking for a Development Accountant. Based on the Mayfield Development site and supporting the Finance Lead based in the North, your responsibilities will span a portfolio of regeneration development schemes, including Mayfield and Media City.
A key part of the role is ensuring robust financial management and reporting is provided to both the site teams and group finance. As a result, there will be a high level of interaction with the wider Landsec Group Finance Team as well as the cross functional teams delivering each project.
Principle accountabilities
- Working closely with Regeneration development and delivery teams, as the main point of contact, ensuring that project spend is appropriately authorised, allocated and reconciled on a monthly basis.
- Provide regularly updated project forecasts for integration into the full scheme and Group forecasts and budgets.
- Dealing with estate management related matters including service charge management and reporting.
- Preparation of the first draft of management reporting packs, including budget variance, future performance analysis and monthly management accounts.
- Ongoing update of accounting processes to reflect the changing nature of the site and accounting principles required.
- Ensuring adherence to both local reporting requirements as well as group reporting requirements and being a key point of contact for the Group Finance Team.
- Assisting with audit queries and drafting of statutory accounts.
- Other adhoc responsibilities to include but not be limited to, assisting the Group Finance Team with VAT and corporation tax returns and loan compliance work where 3rd party finance is involved.

Knowledge, experience and qualifications
Essential
- Part qualified or recently qualified accountant.
- Proven experience of working in a Finance role with the ability to demonstrate an understanding of the annual cycle of work and the ability to deliver work to those timescales.
- Experience of preparing management information in a timely manner with a right first time attitude.
- Experience of working effectively with cross functional teams in an organisation or on a key project or programme of work.
- Proven experience of communicating effectively in different situations, particularly in relation to updating on key issues or raising risks and concerns.
- Strong analytical skills coupled with the ability to use Excel to manipulate and present data in an accurate and understandable way.
Desirable
- Previous experience of working in Real Estat
