Available Job Today Purpose:
Reporting to the Director, Finance & Business Operations, the Accounting Assistant is responsible for processing accounts payable (including travel expenses), accounts receivable, payroll, partnership agreements payments, reconciliation of eReports, year-end journal entries and accruals, purchasing of supplies and other related accounting matters. The incumbent supports the Director, Finance & Business Operations with compiling data, reports and providing information as required.
Education:
College Diploma in accounting or an equivalent of 2 years recent experience (defined as within thelast three years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. Thiseducation equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-4 years' experience processing expense claims and doing payroll. Strong data entryskills and aptitude for numbers is necessary in this role. Understanding the basics of financialmonitoring, analysis and preparation of basic financial statements is required. Knowledge of yearendprocesses is required.
Skills:
Demonstrated computer skills in the following: Intermediate proficiency in Word, Excel and Access. Demonstrated skill and ability in the following areas: Knowledge of accounting procedures, forms and budgeting. Experience using on-line systems, experience with data entry and compiling data. Accuracy and attention to detail, good organizational and record keeping skills, demonstrated customer services skills, ability to work effectively under pressure, ability to prioritize task and meet deadlines, effective written and oral communication skills, demonstrated ability to deal with enquiries on demand, and ability to maintain confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to work effectivelyindependently and as a member of a team is required.
