Position Summary
The Clinical Trials Accountant will report to the Budget Analyst for the Clinical Trials in FiRST. The Accountant will assist the Budget Analyst in all aspects of Dermatology. The Accountant will work directly with multiple groups and individuals across UNC School of Medicine to communicate financial objectives and results. This position will serve as a budgetary accounting resource responsible for managing and maintaining research-specific billing and invoicing with an interdisciplinary team to continually optimize the system to deliver a product that makes efficient use of resources. Conduct audits and analysis, collaborating with internal/external partners to ensure accuracy of all trial’s budgets, revenue, and expenses. Provides direction on financial policies and procedures needed to ensure efficiencies. Responsible for developing fiscal reports to include maintaining and summarizing various sources of operational data to support financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting and procurement.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Entry-level with Masters; or Bachelors and 0-2 yrs experience
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
This position requires outstanding written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to multi-task different projects and accounts and adhere to strict deadlines. The candidate must have the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team in a fast-paced, demanding environment. Organizational and planning skills are essential to success in this position. Must have extensive and demonstrated computer skills and experience in standard office and financial management systems.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, at least three years direct work experience in accounting, budget management, financial oversight in an academic environment. PeopleSoft systems experience.
