The Position
Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services' (DWSS) Human Resource Office is recruiting for an Accounting Assistant II that is a self-starter, motivated, and enjoys working in a fast-paced Social Services Agency. This position serves as the Payroll Clerk for the Division and will be located in Carson City. Duties include but are not limited to providing excellent customer services to our employees on payroll-related matters; serving as the Division liaison with the State's Central Payroll Unit; researching and resolving payroll-related issues, including preparing corrective and adjusting documents; and conducting biweekly review of agency staff timesheets. The incumbent will be part of a team that provides professional and customer-oriented HR services to over 2000 employees statewide. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical accounting experience which must have included duties such as coding documents to distribute funds; preparing accounts payable and accounts receivable documents and balancing accounts; and using computer spreadsheets to record, track organize and report data; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
