JOB POSTING
Position: Accounting Administrative Officer
Reports to: Manager of Finance
Department: National Office - Finance
Location: Ottawa, ON / Hybrid
Status: Full Time, Term to June 2026
Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the Financial Accounting Officer is responsible for supporting the accounting team with project financial tracking, accounts payables, client invoicing, financial analysis and regular accounting duties.
Responsibilities
- Project accounting, invoicing, paying vendors, travel expenses and reconciling transactions for the programs administered by the National Office
- Preparing project tracking and cashflow reports with comparison to budget
- Reviewing and reconciling manager credit card reports
- Liaise with program managers, review account coding and budget reports
- Review financial reports submitted to clients
- Banking and reconciliation of program accounts
- Reconciliation of General Ledger accounts specific for projects
- Assisting with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions
- Maintaining relations with National Account customers
- Preparing monthly consolidated invoices for National Account customers
- Review and follow up with Councils and clients
- Provide support for financial reporting and perform administrative tasks as required
- Familiar with procedures to claim GST, HST, and QST rebates for Charities
- Perform month end and year end duties as required
- Other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications and Experience
- Education - College Diploma in accounting, good knowledge of accounting principles
- Experience in non-profit organizations
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, advanced knowledge of Excel
- Experience with accounting software
- Bilingualism English/French is an asset
- Highly organized and ability to work unsupervised
- Work in a team environment
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential
Salary range $48,000-$53,000 commensurate with experience, including insurance benefits, company pension and three weeks’ vacation. Overtime and schedule flexibility may be required depending on the work schedule.
