Overview of Role
The Financial Accountant is a key member of the small team delivering the financial, management and regulatory accounting for the Rothschild & Co bank in Guernsey - Rothschild & Co Bank International Limited (“R&CoBI”). The successful candidate will assume end-to-end responsibility for related Finance work as assigned (including financial, management, statutory and regulatory information).
Responsibilities
Financial Accounting and Reporting
- Provide support in the preparation of the monthly Financial Statements, both management and statutory, of R&CoBI other Rothschild & Co Guernsey companies
- Support in the submission of the results for Consolidation (IFRS for Group Reporting purposes)
- Assist with the preparation of Annual Reports, and providing support for the annual audits
Regulatory reporting & Capital adequacy
- Prepare / assist with the daily monitoring and reporting of key regulatory ratios
- Prepare / assist with the preparation of financial regulatory returns
MIS and Financial Reporting
- Prepare / assist with management reporting
- Assist Divisional Finance team with preparation of Management Reporting data
- Business analysis of the figures to be presented and commentary thereon
Finance point of contact
- Dealing with ad-hoc requests from the business and Divisional and Group Finance teams
- Liaise and support the Divisional Finance team in the forecasting and budgeting process
- Preparation of data for Internal and External Auditors
Other areas
- The R&CoBI Finance team work very closely with the London based finance team of Rothschild & Co Wealth Management (UK) Limited (“WMUK”) with the two teams supporting each other
- In view of this the role may include from time to time covering for colleagues performing a similar role at WMUK
- There will also be significant involvement in cross-functional and systems projects
Skills and Qualifications Required
Successful candidates are likely to have:
- Degree level education and accounting qualification
- Good IT skills
- Strong Excel skills, particularly relevant given the analytical nature of the job
- Strong interpersonal skills - foster and grow internal and external relationships
- Strong organisational skills
- Reliable, conscientious and professional with high level of professional integrity
- Strong analytical and attention to detail skills
- Flexibility, “can-do” attitude with high quality standards
- Excellent communication skills - verbal and written; professional manner; ability to articulate complex issues in a clear and concise manner
In addition, the following would be useful although not essential:
- Background in accounting of banks, investment firms or financial services firms
- Understanding of regulatory reporting and capital adequacy regulation in investment firms
- IFRS know-how, in particular IFRS 9 and IFRS 16
