Play Hockey is seeking an outgoing, organized, motivated individual with excellent communication skills to join our team as an Accounting Associate. The successful candidate will have strong time management skills, the ability to work in a team setting and will have experience in an accounting environment. The role will work closely with the Director of Accounting & Finance to manage month-end accounting, sales tax compliance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management and other related accounting functions. The Accounting Associate will also be trained to support our hockey operations staff by setting up and executing player and team registrations within our registration software systems and working within the software to gather reporting data. This role will work in a hybrid capacity, working several days per week in office, and other days from home.
Responsibilities
- Tournament and event accounting and variance analysis
- Support budget and forecasting cycles
- Lead month end closing process
- Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
- Reconciliation of bank statements
- Recording transactions and adjusting journal entries
- Ensure all supplier invoices recorded accurately (including sales taxes) and schedule disbursements through online software (“Plooto”) and obtain authorization and approvals for payment in a time sensitive manner.
- Provide support on all monthly, quarterly, and annual filings for taxes and other remittances.
- Manage employee expense accounting and organize reimbursements.
- Learn to use the company’s registration software systems.
- Reconciliation of receipts recorded in registration system and the accounting system by event.
- Support hockey operations in the set up and execution of player and team registrations.
- Support business decisions by gathering registration data from the registration software systems.
- Prepare and maintain daily and monthly cash flow reporting.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Possess a University Degree or College Diploma in Accounting/Finance
- 5+ years of accounting/finance experience an asset
- Proficiency in using QuickBooks
- Proficiency in Excel
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, and team-oriented skills
- Able to work well in a fast-paced, growth environment.
- Able to multi-task with strong attention to detail

Salary: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
