We are looking for someone who is committed to working in a challenging, rewarding and enjoyable finance role in the NHS. As a key member of the National Elective Service Directorate you will be an integral part of the service team involved in delivering significant service expansion, including the recently commissioned NHS GJ Eye Unit and the planned new Surgical Unit.
This is a senior role within a multidisciplinary financial management team responsible for providing professional financial management service to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
Expected to work autonomously and to use initiative, experience and knowledge to make decisions on issues affecting he financial performance of the Directorate. This includes: -
Making judgements on financial aspects of the Directorate where there is no precedent and where opinions conflict
Working to a multiplicity of targets/objectives, making judgements regarding allocation of funds against highly complex budgets and data sets.
The post holder will have full responsibility for managing the financial aspects of the National Elective Service Directorate.
A professionally qualified/part qualified accountant or suitably experienced finance manager with previous experience capable of working at a senior level with finance, clinical and non-clinical staff. Proven competence in the management of financial information, financial reporting, governance arrangements, budget setting processes, budgetary control processes and the provision of financial advisory services to operational functions.
Experience of working in the NHS or equivalent large, complex organisation is essential, as are excellent communication, planning and IT skills. The ability to work proactively and use your initiative to deliver to strict timelines while managing multiple demands is essential.
