About the Role
The Finance & Accounting Team is responsible for the financial well-being of the organization. This includes supporting the short and long-term planning/forecasting cycles, providing accurate and timely reporting for decision support, as well as, ensuring that we account for all transactions in accordance with GAAP and in a manner that supports required grant reporting. We collaborate cross functionally to ensure that the organization meets its financial goals which will enable it to fulfill its mission of transforming education.
The Finance & Accounting Analyst directly contributes to the evolution of our business model, and will work closely with to forecast and plan for this fast moving social enterprise. The Analyst will project financial results through budgets and forecasts, play a key role in collaborating with the program and development teams at New Classrooms, and manage the financial operations associated with revenue and margin generation. What You Would Do
- Accounting
- Process and draft accounts payable transactions ensuring that bills and staff reimbursements are paid timely and accurately and in accordance with Finance policies and procedures
- Process and record cash receipts, revenue and receivables
- Prepare general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including payables, prepaid expenses etc
- Enter standard and general journal entries as appropriate
- Review and process expense reports submitted ensuring compliance with travel policy and coding accuracy
- Assist with audits such as financial audit, 990, 1099s
- Organize and maintain filing systems for financial supporting documentation, as well as vendor and other confidential files
- Financial Analysis
- Building and maintain financial models, forecasts and management reports as well as present findings in a meaningful format
- Develop financial forecasts in support of the annual operating budget and long range planning
- Interface with Fundraising and Sales teams to manage revenue targets and track progress against goals
- Perform activity-based and other costing analyses to determine the cost of products and services offered
- Enhance the organization's business intelligence and decision support capabilities through data, modeling, and systematic solutions
- Create institutional grant budgets and manage organizational expenditures against budgets
- Provide financial information for the Board of Directors and for grant proposals as required

What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in finance or related field
- 1 - 2 years of progressive work experience in FP&A role, corporate finance, or investment banking, etc.
- 1 - 2 years of experience with accounting
- Familiarity with general accounting principles (GAAP)
- Advanced Excel/financial modeling skills and proven quantitative and analytical abilities
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Comfort working in a highly collaborative start-up/entrepreneurial work environment
- Ability to keep up with a busy and diverse task list
- Ability to work easily with people at all levels of the organization
- Team player with a willingness and eagerness to help
- Self-starter able to work independently
- Ability to handle highly sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality
- Experience with data visualization software a plus
Role Classification and Benefits
This role is full-time, with an annual salary range of $52,000-62,000, and includes benefits such as a remote work environment, rich medical, dental, and vision insurance, 42 paid days off per year (prorated for the period in which you work), paid parental leave, a professional development budget of $375 annually and a quarterly cell phone and home internet subsidy.
