Job Title: Accounting Clerk Payroll
Location : Finance – Payroll Department
Position Reports To: Finance Director
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:30am to 5:00pm
Location: Kershaw County Government Center
Camden, SC

Job Description: Under general supervision perform a variety of payroll, accounting and
clerical tasks.
- Set-up or make changes to new or existing employees payroll files.
- Collect, organize and review employee timesheets for accuracy and add time worked to employee payroll.
- Resolve any discrepancies by communicating with County Department Heads.
- Tracks vacation and sick hours.
- Compile bi-weekly payroll spreadsheets and documentation, Law Enforcement overtime and security records.
- Separate and organize all paychecks and paystubs by department.
- Keeps detailed and organized payroll records.
- Weekly task from SC Retirement Systems.
- Assist with workers comp audit – payroll and preparation, audits etc.
- Prepares monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting to IRS, DOR, Unemployment, Retirement, including W2’s etc.
- Cross-train with Accounts Payable
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Minimum requirements: Associate degree with a major concentration in accounting, business, or related field or 2-3 years payroll experience. (Governmental Accounting experience is a plus)

Skills /Qualifications: Must have the ability to complete task with a high degree of accuracy, have a strong work ethic, and be detailed oriented. Is able to multitask efficiently.
Needs to be self-motivated and able to prioritize work flow.
Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Must be familiar with operating office equipment (copier, calculator, etc.)
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
(Accounting +Plus Software is a plus)

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking and standing. Must be able to lift/carry weights of five to twenty pounds.
