The Senior Financial Accountant South Africa is responsible for managing accurate and timely reporting of results for the business areas in a strong alignment with Shared Service Center. This includes full financial accounting for period end close and reporting to Corporate. The role will also be responsible for maintaining compliance with Corporate, local policies and statutory requirements, including tax.
Core Responsibilities:
- Statutory Financial Reporting – Production of the annual statutory financial statements and managing the external audit process
- Financial Reporting US-GAAP – Responsible for the monthly group reporting of the South Africa entity, including full balance sheet and P&L review and process controls of the share service center
- Support budgeting and planning process for the South Africa entity
- Conduct Accounts Payable including approving invoices, reviewing weekly & monthly pay-runs as well as payroll and VAT payments in close coordination with the shared service center
- Responsible for local tax topics – Ensure full compliance of Income tax, VAT and Transfer Pricing regulations. Coordinate tax return preparation, manage tax audits and other correspondence with tax authorities, prepare monthly tax provision and the quarterly tax forecasting
- Compliance – Ensure SOX compliance for the business areas as well as supporting of Internal Audits and the implementation of related audit findings
- Improvement initiatives – Develop ways to improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of responsibilities under area of control
- Support activities for the UK entity and act as deputy for UK& RSA Accounting manager
Qualified candidates will have:
Mandatory requirements:
- Degree: Qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA
- Work experience in accounting functions, preferable in a multinational environment or in external or internal audit
- Working knowledge in either UK-GAAP, US-GAAP or IFRS
- Experience in working with an ERP system, preferrable SAP
- English fluency, both written and spoken
