Purpose of the role
The Franchise Accounting Manager will manage a team of qualified accountants to ensure compliance with accounting principles, corporate policies, and external audits. This person will manage the month end close process and preparation of reports in support of the financial statements.
The Franchise Accounting Manager will report to and work closely with the Head of Record to Report and other senior stakeholders in analysis and reconciliation of accounts and overseeing improvement projects, including automation, simplification, and enhanced control.
Responsibilities
- Managing the RTR process for the UK by ensuring service level agreements are met thereby ensuring completion of all day to day, month end and year end close activities in correct and timely manner.
- Ensuring all transactions are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and report preparation.
- Ensure all policies and processes adhere to the Minimum Control Framework, act as a key point of contact for internal and external audit requirements.
- Responsible for overseeing improvement projects as per finance transformation plan by liaising with a wide range of stakeholders, and agreeing deliverables required for successful implementation.
- Motivate and develop the Franchise Accounting team, fostering an attitude of continuous improvement by giving the team the tools and drive to be able to grow and develop.
The Ideal Candidate
- Ability to connect external and internal customer requirements to the objectives and performance of the Franchise Accounting team.
- Strong communication skills, able to galvanise large teams and embed support for a centralised shed services model.
- Able to organise and manage teams to consistently deliver to deadlines and work to high standards.
- Up to date with technical accounting matters and brings best practice through ongoing involvement in external networks.
- Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACA/ACCA) who has managed teams to deliver high levels of performance.
- Skilled at managing and developing accounting teams.
- Operates with a strong sense of financial control; embeds a culture of ownership and accountability.
