Temporary
The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) has an immediate opening for an Extra Help Accounting Assistant who will be responsible for processing vendor invoices for payment of agency expenses, as well as grant and scholarships payments, in accordance with state and agency procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Verify mathematical accuracy of invoices.
- Review and maintain the flow of invoices from receipt to vouchering.
- Review invoices, assign proper expenditure codes and sub-account numbers.
- Ensure supporting documents are properly organized and approved, verifying completeness, prior to data entry into ERP (SAP) system.
- Act as first-level approval of processed invoices, along with fellow Cash Disbursements area staff.
- Maintain invoice records for historical references and audit purposes as required by agency, state, and federal regulations.
- Assist agency staff and external vendors with coding required by Illinois Office of the Comptroller when necessary.
- Perform other duties with the Cash Disbursements area as needed by Supervisor.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
- A combination of education and work experience totaling one year in accounting, bookkeeping, office support or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to understand and implement complex federal and State accounting and compliance requirements.
- Ability to learn and understand State computer applications including ERP (SAP).
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external personnel.
