Summary
The candidate for this role will have 3-5 years of accounting experience servicing multiple clients in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. A CPA license is not required. An accounting degree is preferred, but experience and demonstrable expertise/certification may be substituted for a degree. Prior experience working with government contractors is a plus but not required. This position can be fully remote, hybrid or in-office in one of our three offices, Annapolis or Lexington Park MD or Alexandria VA.
Mission
The role will provide timely and accurate accounting services to government contracting clients. allowing them to make critical and strategic business decisions.
Accountabilities
- Day-to-day bookkeeping, including A/P & A/R category coding
- Proficiency in payroll preparation using QuickBooks and third-party platforms such as ADP, SurePayroll, Gusto
- Complete all federal state and local quarterly and year-end filings including but not limited to, payroll tax returns, 1099s and sales and use tax
- Petty cash and bank reconciliations
- Track cross-entity due to/from accounts
- Research and resolve discrepancies or questions related to amounts invoiced by clients’ vendors
- Month and year-end accounting closing processes
- Basic financial reporting (income statement, balance sheet, etc.)
- Communicate with project managers on status of key client accounting and reporting matters
- Provide superior and proactive service to clients
- Assist in onboarding new clients including clean up of prior periods
- Demonstrate an interest and knowledge in how the client runs their business
Skills
- Extensive experience with QuickBooks, including knowledge of features and functionality
- Demonstrated management of multiple clients, projects, and deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with people at a variety of levels, both within the firm and externally (clients and vendors)
- Ability to work independently, while balancing and prioritizing various tasks and responsibilities efficiently and effectively
- Strong, adaptable technology aptitude, exhibiting a high degree of comfort learning and working with new technology and software applications
- Meticulous organization with excellent attention-to-detail
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $58,000.00 - $65,500.00 per year
