The Ministry of Finance is responsible for oversight of government revenue, expenses, assets and liabilities. The Finance & Operation Services Branch, within the Corporate Services Division of the Ministry of Finance, provides financial, settlement and accommodation services for the Ministry and several other associated entities.

The Finance & Operation Services team is looking for an organized, conscientious and thorough Accounting Clerk to fill this 18 month term position. This position will report to the Manager of Finance. This position is responsible for (but not limited to): preparing investment entries, bank deposits, bank reconciliations, reconciling clearing accounts, preparing journal vouchers/ debit memos, transferring of funds between financial institutions and data entry of financial information. Additionally, this role involves preparing accruals as instructed by the Director, Financial Analyst and other Ministry branches and clients and also responds to inquiries from management, staff, auditors and clients.

The successful candidate will possess knowledge of accounting principles and procedures relating to accounts payable, journal entries and reconciling accounts. The candidate must be able to work independently and cooperatively with others in a team environment.

The successful candidate will also be organized and demonstrate flexibility in prioritizing tasks in order to fulfill the above duties accurately and within firm deadlines.

Typically, the successful candidate will have several years of experience working in the accounting field, with some post-secondary education. Successful completion of a diploma or undergraduate degree in Commerce or Business administration, with a major in Accounting would be considered an asset.
