About the team?
The Food safety and assurance manager role sits in the catering team, we are responsible for ensuring the right product is delivered to the right train at the right time safely. We oversee all catering products selection and pricing; we manage food and water safety ensuring the customer receives the best possible experience on our trains. We source products and manage all catering contracts; we ensure Epos is set up correctly and fit for use on all trains.
About the job?
The role is flexible in terms of location but must be on or close to the GWR network as this role is mainly auditing across all locations on the route. We have an office base at Paddington station where most of the small team are located. You will manage all food safety for the business and audit compliance across the board and manage all policies and procedures which fall under this.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Auditing and feeding back in all aspects of food and water safety within the business
- Ensuring GWR is fully compliant with legislation and react to any changes or risks
- Being part of a small team and part of the wider catering decisions and projects
- Auditing and creating good working relations with external stakeholders
- Attending meetings and working groups
- Support in business changes
- Coaching/supporting crews with questions and following process
- Managing food safety training
- Owning and editing the food safety and water safety policies and procedures and ensuring adherence to these
- Creating papers and briefs when needed
You'll need to be:
- A quick thinker and able to work solo and as part of a team
- Able to think customer first when making decisions
- Have a passion for driving improvements
- Flexibility to travel and audit multiple locations on the GWR rail network
As a minimum, you will need to have:
- Level 4 managing food safety certification
- Experience of managing food and water safety in previous roles
- Proven record of auditing
- Previous experience of managing policies and procedures
- Good computer skills
Working Pattern?
Mainly a 5-day working pattern in the week but some overnight stays and early/late and weekends will be required to cover of all audit requirements
