Position Summary & Overall Purpose:
Fifth Avenue Financial is looking for an experienced Accounting Associate who will be responsible for managing many of our day-to-day accounting activities to ensure accurate, timely and efficient processing and reporting. This work from home/office hybrid position works closely with our Assistant Controller and CFO. The right candidate has strong attention to detail, a high level of organization, a willingness to learn new things quickly and accurately, as well as having a positive ‘can do’ attitude!
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Handle all accounts payable tasks from setting up new vendors, to entering and processing payments
- Responsible for ensuring the billing census is up to date and all advisors are billed per our accounting calendar and credit card payments are successfully processed; enter payments into QuickBooks
- Reconcile monthly bank statements for multiple accounts and obtain sign-off for month-end close reports; follow up on uncleared checks
- Work with Assistant Controller on select monthly reconciliations in order to make payments to our advisors
- Assist with mid-year and year-end 1099 review & processing
- Create and maintain monthly accounting calendar with close dates and deadlines
- Make month end journal entries as needed to record bank transactions and other miscellaneous entries
- Tracking recurring payments and field questions as needed
- Submit reimbursement requests for telephone and APS’s; track and post receipt of funds
- Make electronic deposits as needed
- Assist agents and brokers with commission statement assistance
- Process expense reports for company employees
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting
- 1-3+ years prior accounting experience
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook)
- Quickbooks a plus
- Financial services/insurance industry preferred
- Proficient and adaptable with technology
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously
- Self-driven/self starter
- Strong organizational skills
- Detail oriented
- Ability to follow through & execute
- Salary commensurate with experience

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
