Overview
Our Toronto office is seeking an Accounting Assistant for a 6-month contract opportunity (with possibility of extension).
The role will be an integral part of the Finance team responsible for providing financial and administrative support to the organization. The Accounting Assistant will report to the Finance and Accounting Manager.
We currently have a hybrid remote-working scenario in effect, subject to change. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
We are seeking an Accounting Assistant who:
- Has a working knowledge of the fundamentals of finance including invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, month/year-end closing, financial reporting and analysis, and office administration. As a member of our global Finance team, you will be responsible, but are not limited to, the following:
- Prepare monthly invoice reports and distribute to project managers
- Process monthly invoices and submit to clients in a timely manner
- Ensure vendor invoices are entered and posted into the system correctly and promptly
- Review and post employee expenses into the system
- Ensure daily cash deposits and receipts are entered into the system
- Work with the Manager of Finance and Accounting to collect any outstanding AR invoices
- Ensure monthly vendor and client invoices are posted
- Capture and post employee expenses
- Review and post weekly employee timesheets
- Perform monthly credit card reconciliation
- Perform bank reconciliation
- Prepare monthly financial analysis and month end reporting package
- Manage accounting and finance related emails, and respond to information requests
- Initial point of contact for internal/external payment inquiries
- Organize and maintain financial documents and files
- Maintaining awareness of and always demonstrating a respectful, professional, and empathetic approach in all team, company-wide and outward industry, and client focused interactions
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree, college diploma
- Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of 3-5 years of accounting or finance experience in a professional services environment
- Knowledge of Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint software is an asset
- Proficiency using Excel and Google sheets
- Accuracy with numbers, and familiar with general financial procedures
- Strong knowledge of accounts receivable, invoicing, and project reviews and analysis
- Detail-oriented, ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Positive team player and ability to work independently and follow-through
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective written and verbal communications skills

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
