What you will be doing:
This is an exciting new role here at DOMO. As our Accounting Specialist, you will be part of a small team supporting the Finance Manager in bringing our finance processes to the next level to support the business as we grow. However, you will be part of the wider DOMO team, getting involved in cross-team projects and supporting other departments' needs.
This role is a varied accounting role and would suit someone who likes to get stuck in. You will be responsible for a variety of key tasks such as payroll and balance sheet reconciliations. The ideal candidate will be super organised and happy with a varied workload.
Main Responsibilities:
- End-of-month bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions in the month are accounted for and the balance in Xero matches relevant bank statements.
- Review aged creditors at the end of the month and take appropriate action.
- Review aged debtors at the end of the month - flagging outstanding GoCardless invoices to the Customer Success team and inputting Stripe refunds into Xero.
- Processing monthly payroll and end-of-year HMRC reporting.
- Posting monthly journals and reconciling payroll control accounts in Xero.
- Maintain fixed assets in Xero including additions, disposals, and monthly depreciation.
- Checking that expenses in Xero have been attributed to the correct department and investigating and reclassifying any that are unclassified.
- Producing ad-hoc departmental reports such as the use of the Wellbeing, Learning and Development fund by employees.
- Month-end reconciliations of balance sheet accounts such as net pay control account and suspense (including investigating and resolving items).
- Reconciliation of Stripe account to ensure all revenue has been accounted for, all funds received in Metro bank account, and Stripe and Xero balance.
- Review and submit quarterly VAT returns for 2 group companies.
- Monthly accounting adjustments such as prepayments, accruals, and loan interest.
- Support month-end management accounts and cash flow reporting. Investigating monthly variances between actual and budget.
- Support with quarterly reviews and annual budgets.
- Compiling documents for the accountants to prepare year-end statutory accounts and corporation tax returns.
- Other ad-hoc finance activities and reporting as requested to support the wider business and leadership team.
Essential Skills / Our Ideal Candidate:
- AAT Qualified (or qualified by experience)
- Minimum of three years of general accounting experience
- Working knowledge of payroll (including an understanding of HMRC legislation and employer responsibilities), accounts receivable, and accounts payable
- Excellent English communication (written and verbal) skills
- Collaboration across teams
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in entering financial data
- Great knowledge of Excel / Google Sheets and use of formulas
- Previous experience using Xero or similar cloud-based accounting software
- Ability to manage own workload
- Can perform well under pressure
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Deadline-driven with excellent time management
- Analytical thinker and loves problem-solving
- Commercial awareness
Useful Skills / And a massive bonus if:
- Industry experience working in a similar role in the tech/start-up sector.
- Confidence with using different software applications and ability to manage integrations between different software, for example, Xero and Stripe.
