Job description
Senior Accountant
District Advisory is a full-service accounting and finance firm that serves startups and SMBs (small and medium-sized businesses). We play many roles for our clients, from being their CFO to their entire accounting and finance departments.
Being a startup ourselves, we truly understand the needs of our clients, and work to meet them with unwavering determination. Sometimes that means pulling together last-minute financials on a Sunday for a Monday investor meeting, other times it means celebrating a big win with their team. No matter what is called for, we are up for the task, because we are invested alongside our clients.
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to help support our fast-growing and innovative clients. This individual should be a detail-oriented, self-starter who learns quickly and is highly organized. They must be open to working unconventional hours from time to time, and excited about contributing innovative ideas to both District Advisory and our clients.
Duties:
· Support a variety of accounting functions for clients including financial statements (both on accrual and cash basis), bank reconciliations, completing sales tax returns, processing payroll, invoicing and billing, and more on occasion.
· Develop working knowledge of appropriate accounting software (QuickBooks Online experience a must).
· Prepare analysis of income statement and balance sheet and present to client on a monthly basis
· Manage junior staff in completing the month end work including reviewing account reconciliations, financials, payroll reports, etc.
· Act as main point of contact for clients in answering all of their accounting questions
Qualifications:
· 3+ years of experience providing accounting and financial services.
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
· Proficiency and aptitude for applicable software (QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Microsoft Office – particularly Excel, etc.).
· 1+ year of experience supervising junior staff and reviewing their work
· Proactive problem solving skills.
· Effective time management skills, self-motivated, critical attention to detail and deadlines.
· Ability to handle pressure in a positive and professional manner.
· Excellent interpersonal skills; communication must be clear, concise, and considerate of the needs of others.
· Works cooperatively with others and values the different contributions people make.
