The Community Living Association for South Simcoe (CLASS) provides services and supports to people with developmental disabilities.
The purpose of this position is to accurately issue pay to employees by calculating earnings and deductions in accordance with established practices and guidelines and to perform accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions.
These functions are carried out within the guidelines of the Ministry of Community and Social Services and in accordance with the Mission statement. The mission of the Community Living Association for South Simcoe is to “support the right of individuals with intellectual disabilities to choose and lead dignified lives within the community”.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- College Diploma
- Good working knowledge of payroll software and the Microsoft Office Suite
- 1-3 years payroll processing experience
- 1-3 years accounts payable or general accounting experience
- Strong numerical skills
- Understanding of internal controls
- Knowledge of the Ontario Employment Standards Act, 2000

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Payroll
- To provide backup to the Payroll Specialist when required:
- process payroll by established deadlines
- issue statements of earnings and deductions
- reconcile employee deductions
- investigate and correct payroll discrepancies and errors
- process new employees, terminations, transfers and promotions
- prepare and print payroll reports of earnings, hours worked, taxes, insurance, leave
- address employee's pay-related concerns and provide accurate payroll information
- complete requests for pay-related documents including statements
- ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations and guidelines
Accounts Receivable
- Input cash receipts
- Complete monthly billing for the organization
- Filing and distribution of invoices
- produce monthly reports
- assist with month end closing
Accounts Payable
- review and verify invoices and cheque requests
- sort, code and match invoices
- set invoices up for payment
- enter and upload invoices into system
- process expense reports
- prepare and perform cheque runs
- reconcile accounts payable transactions
- prepare analysis of accounts
- monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
- research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
- maintain vendor files
- correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
- produce monthly reports
- assist with month end closing
- provide supporting documentation for audits
General Accounting
- Conduct monthly reconciliations of bank and/or credit card accounts
- Maintain the petty cash fund
- Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure accuracy
- Assemble information for audit purposes
- Collecting delinquent accounts
- Maintain efficient reporting & filing process for invoicing, collection and follow up.
Location:
Our head office is located in Alliston, Ontario. We provide services in the South Simcoe area including Alliston, Everett, Cookstown, Bradford, Innisfil and Tottenham. CLASS manages 18 residential group homes across our catchment area. Our day programs operate in Alliston and Bradford and provide an opportunity for the people we support as well as members of our community to participate in fulfilling activities and outings.
