TITLE: Staff Accountant
Target Hiring Range: $ 69,306.44- $ 77,969.75 Annually

POSITION SUMMARY
Under moderate supervision, performs various accounting tasks to support the Finance Department.
COMPLIANCE WITH REGULATIONS:
Works closely with all departments necessary to ensure that the processes, programs and services are accomplished in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with CHG policies and procedures and in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations including CMS and/or Medicare Part D, DHCS and DMHC.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports the Accounts Payable function by: reviewing invoices for completeness and accuracy; coding to the proper expense account; verifying appropriate payment approvals and entering check requests in the accounts payable system.
- Prepares monthly bank reconciliations.
- Records monthly inter-bank transfers, wire transfers, and EFT’s.
- Maintains the YTD check registers for all bank accounts.
- Prepares positive pay files to be transmitted to the bank.
- Prepares and enters month end journal entries.
- Analyzes administrative expense accounts.
- Analyzes balance sheet accounts and prepare reconciliations.
- Analyze financial statements for completeness.
- Responsible for escheating and reporting all unclaimed property to the State of California.
- Assist with year-end audit.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferred.
EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS
Two to three years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, MBA, or related degree may substitute for experience.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles.
Proficient with MS Excel and Word.
Experience with general ledger and accounting software packages.
Attention to detail; deadline-oriented; excellent at time management
Good oral and written communication skills
