Job Purpose

As a key member of the Finance team this individual will assist in the timely completion of all aspects of financial reporting, including VAT, management accounts, statutory accounts, forecasts, and budgets. The successful applicant will also be required to provide meaningful data and analysis to inform decision making across all areas of the business.

About The Role

Responsibilities

  • Assist financial accountants in preparation of management accounts.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory returns including VAT and government surveys in line with mandated deadlines.
  • Review of Fixed Assets and Intangible Assets, including additions/disposals and depreciation/Amortization postings, along with Budget usage tracker.
  • Compile information for grant claims as required by the business.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and ensure financial accuracy of underlying financial transactions.
  • Respond to queries from auditors, and finance providers as required.
  • Develop cost variance analysis; responding to ad hoc queries from the business.
  • Investigate and resolve issues with financial transactions as identified.
  • Contribute to departmental improvement initiatives.
  • Review and improve internal controls.

Required Criteria

    • Two A-Levels and three GCSE’s (or their equivalent) covering a minimum of five subjects to English and Maths
    • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a busy accounts department
    • Accounts Receivable experience
    • Accounts Payable experience
    • Proficient in Windows based Software Products (E.G. Excel).
    • Strong organisational skills
    • Attentive to detail
    • Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Clearance to work in UK

    • Degree in Accounting or equivalent
    • Experience of ERP systems
    • Engineering industry background
    • VAT experience
    • Payroll Experience
    • Good numerical skills
    • The ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
    • Customer focused
    • Enthusiastic self-starter able to work on own initiative.
    • Good Commercial Awareness
